Geriatrician Questions Forgetfulness

Is forgetfulness in seniors normal?

My mother is 78 years old and has recently became very forgetful. Is this normal in seniors or is it a sign of something serious?

No memory loss is not a normal part of aging. She needs to have a full medical evaluation including blood tests for thyroud, b12 liver and kidney functionas well as hemoglobin. She may also need brain imaging. A good review of her meds as well to see if they may be impacting her memory
No, it is not normal. Needs a detail check-up.
