How is glaucoma usually treated?

What does the treatment for glaucoma involve? My father has diabetes and just developed glaucoma as well. I just want to know the best way that it could be treated to help him.

Open angle glaucoma can be treated with drops, laser treatment, or surgery. I prefer to treat my patients with laser first.
The treatments are quite varied based on the type of glaucoma and severity of the glaucoma. He may start drops versus laser treatment. If the eye pressure didn’t decrease despite drops and laser, he may need surgery.
Treatment depends on the type of glaucoma, which can be identified at the time of his exam. Be sure he’s seeing an ophthalmologist and is using his medications as prescribed
