Audiologist Questions Hearing loss

I work with headphones for a long time. Can it affect my hearing?

I work in a call center and have my headphones on for nearly the better part of the day. Will this affect my hearing in the long-run?

Keep the volume down to avoid hearing damage. Any sound 85 dB or higher can damage hearing with prolonged exposure.    Angela R. Sieh Ceretto, M.A., CCC-A, FAAA Audiologist Pinnacle Audiology, LLC 6809 S. Minnesota Ave., Suite 101 605-306-4481
Yes, it can. An estimated 12.5% of children (approximately 5.2 million) and 17% of adults (approximately 26 million) have suffered permanent damage to their hearing from excessive exposure to noise. Prolonged exposure to loud music increases your risk of hearing loss. But working in a call center shouldn’t be an issue, as long as you keep your headphones at a moderate volume.
