“Why do I have high cholesterol after my bypass surgery?”
I recently had a bypass surgery, and now my cholesterol levels have shot up. What could be causing this?

It could be a temporary reaction to the (physical) stress of the surgery, random variation or that your statin dose has been changed. There is no immediate worry but recheck it in two months.
The bypass surgery had nothing to do with it. More likely than not you have changed something in your diet. Look carefully, keep a diary. Are you now eating butter, or more cheese? Perhaps mayonnaise, or more eggs? What about bacon or red meat? If all of the above fail: check another favorite: Ice Cream!! I am sure somewhere you will find something That explains it.
High cholesterol can be genetic if the liver produce more bad cholesterol it can be due to eating certain food which contain high bad cholesterol load
Sedentary life smoking alcholol all can lees to high unhealthy cholesterol
After stent placement or bypass the pt need to be in cholesterol med (statins) some time plus other medicine to bring the non healthy cholesterol to the ideal target
Now we have bck9 inhibitor which can be raking as injections every two to four weeks
Still very expensive
