Internist Questions Internal Medicine

Does a hospitalist do similar things as an internis?

I understand that internists help treat a variety of diseases and conditions. But does a hospitalist do the same thing, only in a hospital setting?

1 Answer

Yes. Most hospitalists are trained as general internists (or general pediatricians, less often both or family medicine). Because of the changing environment between hospital and office medicine, hospital medicine is starting to shift towards its own specialty, but hasn't fully split off from general internal medicine yet.
