Internal Medicine | Critical Care Medicine Questions Carbuncle

How are carbuncles treated?

I have a severe problem with repeated carbuncles. What is the treatment for making them finally go away?

Carbuncles alone can be drained and injected. When you have multiples, and depending on their location, they might need systemic treatment. See your dermatologist for help.

If really carbuncles, methicillin resistant staph aureus is one of the more common infectious causes of these. Drainage and antibiotic therapy followed by decolonization is the best way to prevent recurrence.
