My grandfather was just admitted to the hospice unit because he isn't recovering as well as he should from his surgery. How are patients typically managed in hospice?

Great question, and you will need to ask the hospice team where your grandfather is. Each one does things differently.
Hospice is very extensive and comprehensive service. it has 4 levels of care provided with an interdisciplinary team. these services can be provided at home or nursing home for most part. if needed and available hospice in patient unit can be utilized to achieve comfort for the patient/caregivers.
