Your best course of action for treating hair loss is early professional evaluation and intervention in order to retard the rate of loss and reverse the process as much as possible. The precise reason for your hair loss (which can be stress induced, female pattern, hormonal, etc.) needs to be determined and then the best course of treatment recommended. The earlier the intervention, the better.. Good luck.
I highly recommend Rogaine for females. Best to get evaluated by a dermatologist as prescription medications may prove of value as well.

Dear 58-year-old female,
There are multiple causes of hair loss. Some can be metabolic, like anemia or thyroid disease or other internal disease or nutritional issues. Others can be caused by hairstyling, genetics and even autoimmune disease. So, depending on because of your hair loss, a dermatologist can direct treatment appropriate for that cost. Either way, please feel free to see your local dermatologist, and if you do not have one, you may go to AAD.org; there is a tab to search for a dermatologist near you.
