Dear Reader,

In order to stop the nerve pain in your tooth, you are going to need definitive treatment. Nerve pain means either inflammation, infection or both. Only a dentist can help relieve the pain. I strongly suggest you make an appointment with your dentist, or if you don't have one, call the state dental society or ask a friend for a recommendation.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

You need to see a dr. for that. It can get worse and develop infection in the tissues.
By doing a root canal treatment
The question is not clear. If you have pain due to large decay then you may need a root canal. If you have recession and you call that nerve pain then you start using sensodyne tooth paste and that will lessen your sensitivity.
Assuming the pain is originated from the tooth due to severe dental decay or fracture instead of any underling bone defect or infection. Pain can be relieved by removing the infected lesion, and possibly followed by the root canal therapy depends on the size of the affected area.
