The best way is to brush gently and thoroughly twice a day and floss every night. Eat a healthy diet and see your dentist for regular check-ups.
By going to your hygiene regularly, every 6 months. I recommend the use of a water flosser and electric toothbrush. Massaging your gums when you brush as well
We need to first evaluate the « strength « of your gums. There are ways to make it stronger with multiple cleanings a year. Surgery, if your gums and bones are at risk, is the worst case scenario. It all depends.
This is a great question and something I am most passionate about. The most important step is first making sure you have had a good professional hygiene visit to make sure that your gums can start to heal. If you have tarter or active gum disease, you need to have professional help to remove as much of the reasons for the gum disease. For home care, it is not about average or good, you have to have excellent home care. That means using a sonicare or oral b mechanical tooth brush for at least 2 minutes 2 times a day and use it properly. It means flossing or soft picking at least once a day. It could also mean using Dakins solution as a rinse 3 times a week to help weaken and dilute the biofilm so the bacteria are free flowing in your mouth (they only do good and not bad that way). Remember, if your gums bleed when you brush, floss, or use softpicks, you have gum disease.
FLOSS DAILY!!
Hi, daily flossing and use of a quality electric toothbrush like Oral B Braun or Sonicare will help strengthen and keep gums healthy.
The best option for strong gums is to be sure they adequately cleaned. This stars with good daily hygiene. For most healthy mouths this means flossing BEFORE you brush with an electric tooth brush and a fluoride tooth paste. AT LEAST once per day, night time is best. How do I know if my gums are healthy to start with? A visit to your local dentist for an exam and hygiene appointment. Within 24 hrs of your hygiene appointment bacteria will start to develop more heavily into damaging bacteria (non oxygen using bacteria at the base of the tooth sulcus( the ditch where the tooth comes through the gum). Creating a slimey gel film that protects them. So when you floss you break that up between your teeth where the tooth does not reach introducing a little oxygen as well preventing them from developing into larger numbers that will generate your bodies immune response creating inflamation. Minimal bacteria no reaction healthy gums. Electric tooth brush is important because it should be one that lets you know if you are brushing too hard and causing damage to your gums and teeth. Certain models have some sort of light or action signal that indicates too much damage causing pressure. Fluoride keeps teeth strong and is some what antibacterial so is somewhat beneficial for healthy gums as well.
To make sure you have healthy gums, it is important to brush and floss every day. It's also important to visit the dentist for regular cleanings.
Good oral hygiene including thorough brushing, dental flossing and use of an anti microbial rinse will help to strengthen your gums
