How can I treat my depression?

I am a 32 year old male and I am depressed almost every day. How can I treat my depression? Should I see a doctor?

Read the DSM-5 criteria for major depression and for dysthymic disorder (persistent depressive disorder). There are many reading skills available online including the Beck and Hamilton
There are some excellent books on depression: Unstuck by James S. Gordon MD, Lost Connections by Johann Hari, and Getting Undepressed by Gary Emery. If you can find a good therapist that can be very helpful. Most doctors will prescribe you antidepressants, but I would not recommend that you use them unless you have thoroughly researched the pros and cons. A website such as Mad in America will give you that information.
Depression treatment is best by combining psychotherapy and medications.
I think a combination of psychopharmacoligical (medication management) and psychotherapeutic (cognitive behavioral therapy) support will help

Also, consider seeing a therapist experienced in treating depression.
