Orthopaedic Surgeon (Pediatric) Questions Back Pain

How can my son get rid of his back pain?

My son hurt his back around two months ago, and the pain makes it uncomfortable for him to sit down. I don't think it's related to the actual injury. Is there something wrong with the way he's sitting, or is it just the lack of movement? Is there a way to help get rid of the pain?

It is very unusual for a child to have a long period of back pain. Common reason is a stress reaction or fracture. Disk herniation is very unusual and simple muscle strain should heal during this time. Sometimes scoliosis will cause pain in the back also low grade infection. There are also more severe problems. Sounds like your son needs evaluation with thorough history, exam and radiographs and /or MRI. Good luck. Hope this helps.
