“How can physical therapy help my son with coordination?”
My son has difficulties with coordination and I want him to have help with his. He's just very clumsy, and he's 5 years old. He's always been like this though since he learned to walk. How can physical therapy help my son with coordination?

Thank you so much for reaching out. Physical and Occupational therapy can both help improve coordination. Once our PTs do a detailed evaluation they would finalize a plan of care based on the medical history, functional needs and set up goals accordingly. You should have physical therapy evaluation by someone who specializes in pediatric. There are some medical conditions that may be why he’s uncoordinated.
The answer lies within your question. Physical therapy can help with coordination using various techniques. The key is to locate a Pediatric Specialist in your area. Any Physical Therapist can help your son but one who has specialized in this demographic group will have an edge when it comes to his particular case. How does it work? In the most basic of terms it is done by integrating the neural system to the muscular system during activities. Good luck and Merry Christmas.
