“How do I prevent getting a sleep disorder as a pilot?”
I realized that my sleeping schedule is off ever since I became a pilot for a commercial airline. I'm worried about this turning into insomnia or something because I know it'll affect my job. What can I do to prevent getting a sleep disorder, as a pilot?

Yes it’s challenging with shift work! In general avoiding stimulants including caffeine through out the day, getting regular exercise, developing a regular bedtime routine, avoiding heavy meals during the hours before bed, eliminating noise and light distractions and other changes in sleep hygiene will help. Meditation and relaxation before sleep can help with good quality sleep. Melatonin may be helpful sometimes for circadian rhythm disturbances. I recommend seeing a sleep specialist and get an individualized plan.
