How do you know if you need your eyes tested?

I am a 31 year old male. I wonder how can I know if I need your eyes tested?

You should have an eye examination once a year.
Comprehensive eye exams with an Ophthalmologist should be done if you have any eye problems, change in your vision, pain or irritation of the eyes or eyelids. In addition if you have any systemic medical problems whether controlled or not it is important to see an Ophthalmologist yearly.

When there are no eye or medical issues it is recommended a complete eye exam be done with an Ophthalmologist at age 5, then 10, once as a teen, after the age of 20 an exam should be preformed once every 2-4 years as long as there are no issues or concerns. After the age of 40 , it is advised every 2 years again if there are no visual or medical issues.

I hope this was helpful.
If you are unable to do what you need like or want to do. I.e., can’t read the computer screen. Can’t drive a car at night. Can’t see a golf ball and want to play golf. Headaches or eye pain when reading.

At your age, little can go wrong spontaneously. Compare your vision at a distance to that of a companion who knows they have excellent vision. If they can see clearly what is not clear to you, then get tested. Unless you have underlying disease like diabetes, then you have little to fear at your age.
