My infant son has a cold. I want to know how do you treat a cold in an infant?

For infants, the treatment is symptomatic relief only. Depending on what symptoms the baby has, treat it. If there is congestion, use nasal saline and suction. For fever, use Tylenol.
"Treating" a cold in an infant is purely symptomatic - saline spray for the nose - bulb suctioning the nose if mucous present - a vaporizer by the bedside - elevating the head of the bed - all are comfort measures as the baby fights off the viral infection. Antibiotics are not helpful for a cold and should not be used unless there is found to be a secondary bacterial infection.
