“How is appendicitis treated?”
I suspect my son has an inflamed appendix. This may be appendicitis. How is appendicitis treated?

Laparsocopic appendectomy.
If appendicitis is suspected this is an emergency and he needs to be seen right away. If it ruptures this is much more serious and longer treatment. The mainstay is surgery most commonly by laproscope. Some places are using antibiotics
Generally with laparoscopic surgery. There are some ongoing studies that are trying to use antibiotics alone, but the complication rate and recurrence rates may or may not be as good as surgery.
