“How long does it take to walk after a dislocated ankle?”
I am a 37 year old male and I dislocated my ankle. How long does it take to walk after a dislocated ankle?

You usually need an operation to fix your dislocated ankle. The ankle usually take about 12 weeks to heal before you can bear weight on the ankle.
When you dislocate an ankle, you tear the ligaments. Ligaments take 6 weeks to heal. Therefore, 6 weeks before full weight bearing.

Six to eight weeks depending on the fractures associated with the dislocation. Your orthopedic surgeon will guide you through the progression of weight bearing with crutches, boot, etc.

It really depends on the associated injuries that can occur with this significant injury, which can include ligament, neurovascular structures (nerves and blood vessels) and articular surface cartilage injuries, as well as how stable the joint is after reduction. Best to discuss with your treating orthopedist.
