“How long will it take to recover after tonsillectomy?”
My son is supposed to have his tonsils removed at the end of this week. Are there any side effects that are common after the surgery? How long would it take for him to recover?

Recovery 4-12 weeks. The Surgeon should have discussed the common side effects with you. Otherwise, Google and You Tube.
This is not my area of expertise but sore throat for a few days. Maybe a week or so to recover depending on the technique used. Your surgeon should be able to answer better
