How many hours is jaw surgery?

I am a 33 year old male. I want to know how many hours is jaw surgery?

That depends if having surgery in just one jaw or both. Single jaw 60-90 minutes while double jaw up to 3 hours.
Thanks for your question! Reconstructive jaw surgery can last anywhere from 1 to 8 hours, depending on the actual procedures performed. For example, a simple genioplasty, or chin augmentation, takes about an hour, while upper and lower jaw procedures generally take 2 to 3 hours each. In addition, there may be supplemental procedures required which may add time to the operation, such as a nasal septoplasty, a turbinate reduction or a TMJ procedure. I hope this helps!

The time for surgery depends on which jaw you are operating on. The upper or lower can demand more technical surgery and take longer to complete. We have done lower saggital split advancement in 2 hours as well as lower jaw set backs. The upper can be similar in time if it is one piece and just plating it in its new position. If multiple segments are needed, it could take 2-4 hours. Upper and lower jaw surgery at the same time can take over 4 hours. Length of time also depends on your surgeon. Some are very slow and I have seen them take 6 hours for a single jaw, but this is usually not the case. Best answer is to ask you surgeon what is his or her normal OR time with your specific jaw surgery.
