I am a 22 year old female and I want to get braces. How many stages of braces are there?

The number of stages depends on the severity of your tooth crowding and the method of correction. Adjustments are typically made every 6 weeks for a period of between 18 and 30 months. This would mean somewhere between 12 to 20 stages before completion.
I like going to an orthodontist. They are better able to answer your questions. Most give a free consultation before accepting you as a patient.
2 types: 1 stage braces, and 2 stage braces (putting braces twice at different age). The later one is for children who suffer arch insufficiency and severe malocclusion. Adults usually need 1 stage.
