Dentist Questions Dentures

How often should dentures be replaced?

My dad has had dentures for a long time. He says they're fine but I just want to know if I should take him to the dentist to have them replaced. He's nearing his late seventies now, and he had the same dentures for more than 6 years. What I should do?

If he is fine, maybe he does not need to change them. Usually after 5 years, ask a dentist to check them.
Dentures should be evaluated every 5 years
If they are fitting correctly and are in good shape, he is good. I typically tell my patients with complete dentures to still come in anually for checkups and to check on the dentures. It would be a good rule of thumb for him.
Replacement or relining the dentures might be necessary if they are loose or worn.
