Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions Chronic Kidney Disease

What is the way to confirm chronic kidney disease in a patient?

My mother is 76 years old and has had a history of diabetes for the last 37 years. Her creatinine levels are high and at about 5.33. Is she moving towards chronic kidney disease?

If her cr levels are high and now 5.33, she has stage 5 CKD.
If the creatinine is not under management, she is going to start dialysis.

Check urine protein and get renal ultrasound
Yes, based on the creatinine value, she may have a very advanced kidney disease and needs an evaluation with a nephrologist as soon as possible.
A normal creatinine for her is around 0.8 to 1.2 mg/dL or so. A creatinine of 5.3 suggests severe kidney disease and she must see a nephrologist asap. It is difficult to tell whether it is reversible or not with the limited information we have.
She already has advanced CKD at stage 5
Yes. With creatinine 5, you have severe, chronic kidney disease.
Yes, based on her Cr, she is in CKD 5- nearing dialysis.
