Addiction Psychiatrist Questions Cocaine

My son has been doing coccaine. I am confused how should I deal with this?

My son is 19 years old, and I just found out that he's been doing cocaine. When I caught him, he said that he only did it when he was around friends and that he would stop and stay away from it. I don't really believe him. What should I do to help him stay off of it and be addicted?

You should talk to him about your concerns and if you find out that he is still doing it, he should see an addiction specialist.

He is minimizing its importance. It is illegal and he has not yet had serious consequences. I would consult a psychiatrist to address the issue. Even if he thinks its nuts, he knows that you are taking this very seriously. He may need a rehab program.
