“How to treat Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy?”

My nephew is waiting to get in to see a Pediatric Neurologist in south Alabama. My sister in law took my nephew to have blood work done to have his legs checked. The doctor noticed the way he got up from a sitting position on the floor was a bit off when my other nephew was getting shots for school. The blood work came back and the doctor said there was a very strong possibility that he had Duchennes. That was over 2 weeks ago and we can't seem to get a straight answer from USA Woman and Children. They only say that there is a ton of referrals to go through and when they get to him they will give her a call with an appointment. Is there anything that can be done? Can he be sent to see a different specialist? Who are some of the best DMD doctors in South East America?
