As I am a diabetic, what to do for my leg injury?

I am a diabetic for the last 4 years. I recently had a leg injury which was a normal bruise in an accident. Could this become serious because of my diabetes?

Diabetes at 4 years, with a bruise. If there are no complications of diabetes then a bruise should heal heal normally
It should heal well. Your glucose should be maintained in good control.
An injury could become infected or have delayed healing if your diabetes is not controlled. This happens due to impaired immunity in diabetes, especially if it’s uncontrolled. However, if your diabetes is under control, an injury like bruise should not become a problem and should heal without problems.
Need to follow with a doctor, if still painful after a few days.
If your blood glucose is out of control, wounds are slower to heal. You should discuss with a healthcare provider if your diabetes control will delay wound healing.
Depends on the level of control of your sugars as well as the medications used to control your sugars. If you are using sulfonylureas (glyburide, glipizide, glibenclamide, glimepiride, etc.) you may have chronic non healing.

Yes it can. If your diabetes is well controlled, it should heal OK but if your BS is not well controlled, even the smallest injury can become very serious. Get & Keep your diabetes in good control (HbA1c <7%) and you should heal the same as a person without diabetes. But above that & trouble can occur. So get & keep sugar in control & Good Luck
