Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK)

If I take a creatine supplement, will my normal levels drop when I stop?

I was taking a creatine supplement to enhance my workouts but then I stopped taking it. Recently I took a drug screening test, and my creatine level came back lower than normal, which suggested that I was flushing out my system. If I take a creatine supplement, do my levels really drop when I stop?

Creatine is a muscle protein. It is converted in the body into creatinine. It would be predicted that the creatinine level would be higher when you were taking creatine, and therefore would go lower when you stopped taking it.
