Internist Questions Internal Medicine

Is it required for an internist to specialize in other areas?

I have heard that an internist can go to school for two to three years of specializing in other medical fields. But is there a compulsion to do so? Since I just completed my degree and keen on working as a general internist.

No, you do not have to be a specialist to work, you can work as a General Internist.
There is plenty to be done as a general internist, never dull work.
