“Why is my father so irritable after his bypass surgery?”
My father had bypass surgery last month, and since then he has been very irritable. What could be causing this?

ICU psychosis. Consult a psychotherapist. Consult Neurology if he doesn't improve.
After some people have bypass surgery, there can be changes in the person. Some of those changes sometimes takes time to work through the personality changes that sometimes come after a trauma like your father's body has gone through. Just be patient and do not get upset with him. Just be as understanding as you can. Your father does not want to be that way any more than you want him to be irritable.
