“Is a dental cyst dangerous?”
I am a 34 year old male who was diagnosed with a dental cyst. Is a dental cyst dangerous?

They can be locally aggressive and destroy adjacent teeth and anatomical structures. Also when removed a biopsy is done to properly diagnose it.
Dental cysts are generally benign and therefore are not life threatening. A dental cyst can be associated with more than one type of dental problem, and should be removed in general. I recommend you see an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon for evaluation and recommendations/treatment.
There are different types of dental cysts. Whether or not the cyst is dangerous or not will depend on what type of cyst is present (determined by biopsy and histopathological examination) as well as the location of the cyst.
A dental cyst continues to grow at the expense of the surrounding bone and therefore destroying the bony structure. It is dangerous since it may eventually destroy enough bone to compromise other teeth or potentially weaken the hard tissues allowing for a fracture of the jaw.
it could be. There is no way to distinguish which type of cyst is there from just an xray. There are several more dangerous, destructive types of lesion that need to be ruled out, and that's why it should be removed and biopsied. If it is large, it may need a small biopsy done FIRST, then after the diagnosis the appropriate plan for removal determined.
