In many cases, TCM methods including acupuncture can help relieve the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis, sciatica, bursitis, tendonitis, and other causes of hip pain, without the side effects of medications or complications of hip surgery
Yes! Bursitis can be a bit tricky because the hip bursae is deep and because it is an inflammatory issue in a high use area (hard to stop using your hips and let the inflammation decrease) but especially when combined with Physical Therapy, it can be very helpful.
Definitely acupuncture is effective for hip bursitis. Acupuncture can help reduce swelling and inflammation and relieve pain.
It can help depending upon the severity of your condition. Have you done any other type of therapy for this? Are you overweight? Do you exercise and stretch regularly? What do you do for work? Do you do a lot of bending/sitting/standing? Have you seen a chiropractor? Oftentimes, they can identify an issue with your gait or posture and offer solutions to treat it effectively. All of these things factor into how well you would do with acupuncture. In the meantime, if weight is an issue, work on it. Exercise and stretch daily. Drink plenty of water and avoid soda, it leeches phosphorus and calcium from bones. Make sure you have a supportive mattress to sleep on. Wear supportive shoes/sneakers and avoid flip flops and heels.
Good luck!!

First, it is important to evaluate where is the bursitis. Hip bursitis usually is a general name to any inflammation of the “sliding” muscles and tendons of the hip joint. That being said “hip bursitis” usually responds very good to acupuncture treatment.
Hi,
Acupuncture treatments for Bursitis is one of the most effective ones. I highly recommend you try acupuncture for your concern.
Thank you.

Typically, acupuncture itself does not help bursitis at all. However, acupuncture treatment can improve the symptoms followed by the bursitis like pain, or soreness. So, if you experience any pain or discomfort caused by the hip bursitis, acupuncture can definitely help.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Acupuncture lowers inflammation and increases smooth flow of Qi (energy), allowing reduction in pain. On those patients of mine who’ve had hip bursitis, they’ve felt relief.
Hello,
Thanks for your inquiry about acupuncture for hip bursitis. Bursitis occurs when there is inflammation and/or swelling involving the bursa of the affected areas. This can be caused by various disorders such as injury/trauma or even arthritic conditions. Either way, acupuncture is very useful to help treat this condition as it helps improve the circulation of blood and Qi (vital energy) that is otherwise blocked causing pain, swelling of various synovial or other interstitial fluids and accumulation.
All good things,

Based on my experiences in the last 35 years, it is beneficial. Try it. You have nothing to lose but some costs.
Yes. That is actually what got me started in acupuncture! I had bursitis in both of my hips and acupuncture cured it for me.
