“Is an appendix operation dangerous?”
My son will have an appendix operation as his doctor suggested. Is an appendix operation dangerous?

Appendectomy is not dangerous. Nowadays, they do it laparoscopically, and recovery is great with minimal scar.
The main risk is anesthesia. It is better to get it out before it ruptures. This gets infection in the abdomen and lengthens the stay and need for antibiotics. You also have risk of infection of the wound and nicking the gut.
No, it is not dangerous. It's generally a very safe and well-tolerated a procedure. All surgeries carry risk, but removal of the appendix is relatively routine.
