My 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with an ear infection. Is it serious?

Ear infections are common in children and are associated with colds. If they’re treated with antibiotics, usually there are no long-term consequences.

Is it an otitis media or external otitis? At her age, otitis media is not as common and can signal allergies or hidden sinusitis. Finish therapy and make sure it goes away. If not, further workup may be needed.
