It depends on who you ask. I'm biased. I say yes. Children are very active, and they are hard on their bodies. Chiropractic treatment can "undo" some of that stress.
The birthing process can be traumatic for the baby, as well as the mother. Depending on the nature of the birth, slight spinal imbalances or micro-traumas can be created. If not treated, these can lead to issues, such as the baby favoring holding its head to one side to breathing difficulties.
A child’s body encounters a variety of physical stresses as it grows, which can create imbalances with joint alignment or muscular function. These can also affect development, possibly leading to the development of serious issues later. Until the age of six, a child’s spine is mostly cartilaginous. In the presence of abnormal function, cartilage can deform. For this reason, it’s crucial to ensure that function is restored to normal.
Spinal subluxation can occur without symptoms, however, there are patterns that parents can watch for. Sleeping difficulties, restricted range of motion of the head and neck, one shoulder higher than another, and breastfeeding difficulties can all point to spinal health issues. Many parents bring their newborns in for screening as early as possible to give their child opportunity to recover from the stress of the birthing process. Early adjustments can help the newborn to develop properly, free from imbalances.
Children respond more quickly to adjustments than adults. So, they generally only need a couple sessions initially, followed by periodic maintenance. It’s advised to bring children in for visits as one would for “well child“ visits, as well as at development milestones – holding head up, sitting, walking, etc.
There are many benefits for pediatric chiropractic care as well as many reasons to bring children in.

Any one with a nervous system, including animals benefit from chiropractic. Chiro is about the nervous system and function! As the twig is bent so grows the tree so yes take your children!! They don't need as much as an adult but I see most of my young patients every couple of months unless they are in sports as school then more often during season. Good for the entire family and fido!!
In my opinion, and I would assume in most chiropractors opinions, chiropractic is essential at any age. Chiropractic helps to improve brain function and it helps to neutralize the build up of stress in our brains and nervous systems. Stress can happen and build up at any age, including newborns. Balancing brain function on a regular basis is essential to having optimal health for our entire lives.
Absolutely, chiropractic care is based on tone of the muscles and nerves, which ultimately effects the body’s physiology in how it functions. I am also board certified in clinical nutrition and whole food education.
Yes, in my opinion it is. Basic chiropractic care is beneficial to all ages but there are chiropractors that go a step further and obtain advanced training in chiropractic pediatrics.
My youngest patient was 3 weeks old and suffered from colic. Two adjustments to the little man's spine and he had no more troubles.
Regular chiropractic visits for children, every one to two months, helps to improve immune system response and detect any developmental abnormalities in the spine such as scoliosis which can be corrected if caught in the early stages. It also will help improve coordination and cognitive skills. Some may disagree with these statements but seeing is believing. Over 37 years of practice I have seen a lot of children benefit from chiropractic care. From ear aches, colic, projectile vomiting, correction of scoliosis, children with ADD and ADHD go from anti-social to social and C-D academic average to honor roll. Children with autism who couldn=E2=80=99t dress themselves now tie their own shoes and even make their own lunch.
Yes it works. Just keep an open mind.

Yes, I believe chiropractic is necessary for children to help monitor there growth, development and posture. Just as a child should have a well check, annual chiropractic check-ups can help to assess children for scoliosis and especially in this day and age postural abnormalities due to rounded backs and extended necks as they spend hours on their cell phones!!!
