“Is coughing up blood an early sign of lung cancer?”
My 14 year old son coughed up a bit of blood last night. I want to know if coughing up blood is an early sign of lung cancer?

It can be. but there many other possible explanations. If it is only trace amounts, and it is a one-off affair, especially if you have a cold or recent nosebleed, there is nothing to worry about. If, on the other hand, there is a significant amount and it goes on for days, then you should definitely see your doctor. An early sign of cancer is one possibility, tuberculosis is another, and an early sign of esophageal hernia is a third possibility.
