“Is general anesthesia safe for heart patients?”
I am a 45 year old female. I want to know if general anesthesia is safe for heart patients?

It depends on each individual patient, type of heart condition, other medical problems, and type of surgery. Every anesthetic depresses heart function to a certain degree, and surgery requires close collaboration of PCP, surgeons, and anesthesiologists to determine if the patient is medically optimized for surgery.
In patients with heart conditions we use special anesthetics. Also close monitoring of heart function. But risks and complications could appear.
