“Is general anesthesia safe for infants?”
My son will have a surgery under general anesthesia and he's just barely a year older. Is general anesthesia safe for infants? Are there any negative side effects that I need to be aware of?

Under normal circumstances, like a healthy child and minor procedures like tonsils, hernia, or ear tube, anesthesia is very safe. Risk depends on the child’s health and type and duration of the surgery. You can discuss it with your anesthesiologists on the day of the surgery.
This is a good question. However, one really has to ask what is the risk of not doing the surgery as compared to the potential risks of anesthesia and the surgery? This question needs to be answered by your surgeon in conjunction with an anesthesiologist who knows all the details about your son's case. They should answer those questions as part of the process of getting the "informed" consent for surgery.
