Transplant Surgeon Questions Kidney Transplant

Is my grandfather too old for a kidney transplant?

My grandfather is on dialysis for kidney failure, and he's 84 years old. His doctor said that he'd probably be on dialysis for the rest of his life because of his age. Can't he just get a transplant so he doesn't have to be on dialysis? Or is he too old for a transplant?

He is not too old but you will have to find a kidney transplant willing to take older patients. His best chance is if he has a living kidney donor available.
