Is having a c-section damaging long-term?

I am a 28 year old pregnant female. I am considering having a c-section due to my doctor's recommendation. Is having a c-section damaging long-term?

Generally they are safe with no long term harm.
Thanks for your question.

C sections are often recommended for various and good reasons. Just as any major surgery, the procedure has its own inherent risks including but not limited to infection, bleeding and potential injury to bowel bladder and other organs. In the long term there could be peritoneal and intra pelvic adhesions that may cause pelvic pain. Hence it is important to look at benefits out-weighing the risk and this should be carefully discussed with your OB provider. Hope thus was helpful.
That is a difficult question. C-section carried the risks of anyone having surgery. These are: bleeding, infection, injury to surrounding structures (bowel, bladder, tubes, ovaries). A C-section can lead to adhesions. Usually, but not always, once you have a C-section, you always get a
C-section for subsequent pregnancies. So not direct damage, but it can be direct and indirect damage.

C sections are the most common surgery preformed. Any surgery can cause long term damage or scaring. If your doctor does recommend C section then it is probably the safest way to deliver your baby.
Hard to know what you are referring to but in general terms as long as your surgery goes well then I would say no. Long term risk of pain or damage or problems to bladder area would be low. One concern is that if you are planning more than one pregnancy then future pregnancies/deliveries if by Csection could be riskier for a number of reasons but risks are not high. Otherwise I would discuss with your OB provider. Good Luck!
