“Is it bad for babies to be raised in prison?”
In NY, a law was passed that allows the baby to be raised in prison, by the mother, in the first few months of the baby's life. And to me... it just seems wrong? I learned this while watching Lock Up. I'm not an expert, but wouldn't it affect a baby negatively if they were raised in jail?

I think this is a complicated question. I think there are alot of perspectives to consider. The main thread of thinking I have in this scenerio is that it can go well and it could go wrong. I am not going to make a moral judgement on it, because the responsibility to rear this children to not have stunted development is going to be on the parent and caregivers in place. The caregivers have the right and can make decisions which will not stunt this child's development, but choices can be made which would have lasting impacts as the child ages through the jail system and back out into the world. Great question and concept to apply a child development lens to.
