Addiction Psychiatrist Questions Food addiction

Is it possible to have a food addiction?

I'm 33, male, and I think I have a food addiction. I just want to eat all the time, and I think it's more than just cravings. Is it possible to have this kind of addiction?

Yes. At times, food becomes a way to self medicate. You probably have other symptoms that you experience other than the “wanting to eat all the time.” You have to explore within you or with the help of a therapist the underlying issue that you are trying to satisfy or mask with food. Therapy will be helpful.
I would STRONGLY suggest you see a physician to see if there's an underlying illness. The most common reason for "polyphagia" (eating constantly) is diabetes. A bunch of other illnesses can cause this. Don't wait. Go get checked out.
