Respiratory Therapist Questions Asthma

What respiratory therapy do you recommend for a 5 year old suffering from asthma?

My son is 5 years old and has asthma. What respiratory therapy can I start considering his age and lung capacity?

Hello,
Besides his maintenance medication you can also have him blow bubbles or balloons. It’s not only fun for kids, but its main purpose is to improve their respiratory muscles. Those exercises will create positive expiratory pressure in his lungs making them stronger.
He is also old enough to start swimming lessons and if you have an ability to place him into classes that will be very helpful and good for his health in general.

Thank you,
Irina
