Is saltwater good for an eye infection?

I am a 30 year old female. I have an eye infection from leaving my contacts in overnight. Is saltwater good for an eye infection?

Normal saline which is 0.9% sodium chloride is great and safe for an eye infection along with appropriate treatment of the cause. I would not mix salt water yourself. Buy saline at pharmacy.
No
I would not recommend salt water as a treatment for any type of ocular infection, especially for someone who wears contact lenses. If you are concerned you have an infection, I would recommend making an appointment and seeing an eye care specialist as soon as possible. Eye infections can get worse without treatment, and in some cases, cause serious or permanent vision loss. Further, I would discontinue any contact lens wear until you’ve been evaluated and determined it is safe to resume contact lens wear.

Thank you,

Hypertonic saline solutions are sometimes used to treat corneal edema. However contact lens associated corneal infections are a potentially blinding . They are to be treated with antibiotics under the care of your Ophthalmologist.
An eye infection from contacts can be quite serious. The only treatment, depending on the cause, would be antibiotics, antivirals, or antifungals. You need to see your eye care professional for the proper treatment.
No. Antibiotics are required usually.
Hello,
Contact lens related eye infections can progress rapidly and be potentially dangerous to the health of your eye. You should seek the attention of your eye care professional for the appropriate treatment.
