Spinal anesthesia for a 75-year-old brings so many questions. It could be the best choice or the worst choice. It depends on the type of surgery and the medical condition of the patient, the surgery.
It is one of the safest anesthetics. Like anything it has some risks although these are remote. One of these is possible low blood pressure due to the fact that depending on the level Of the block you get blood vessel dilatation. This is easily managed.
Spinal anesthesia is very safe with a very small chance of complications in elderly patients as compared with general anesthesia.
It is, statistically safer than crossing an average sidewalk. She will be closely monitored and should be fine.

From Christopher Creighton
All types of anesthesia has risk. But for the elderly, we prefer spinal anesthesia to avoid intubation and pulmonary risk. The most common complication of spinal block is headache, back pain is another.
