“How can I prevent a staph infection?”
Someone in my office recently came down with this, and it's making me very nervous. What can I do to prevent staph infection from spreading to me? What precautions should I take?

Staph infections can be spread person to person through contact with direct infection/wound. If the person is undergoing treatment (antibiotics) that decreases your chances of infection. While undergoing treatment, they can isolate themselves from the office, but can return with medical advisement. You can avoid close personal contact with infected persons as well as use universal precautions (use gloves, disinfectant, wash hands) to decrease risk of infection. Dr. Pam
To prevent the spread of staph infection in the office: practice good hand hygiene, avoid direct contact with individuals who have visible infections, keep personal spaces clean, cover wounds, promote respiratory hygiene, maintain clean common areas, and raise awareness among colleagues. Seek medical attention if you notice signs of infection. Consult with healthcare professionals for specific guidance.
