“Is there a way to prevent the hand foot mouth disease spreading in children?”
My daughter goes to preschool, and some children have been infected by the HFM disease. Is there a way to prevent this disease from spreading in children?

By good handwashing and restriction of the individual to a single bathroom and avoiding secretions. Once exposed to the virus, those who develop symptoms and signs will do so within one to three days. They are most contagious during the first week of the illness. However, the virus may continue to be shed for one to three weeks in respiratory secretions (saliva and/or nasal mucous) and in the stool for two to eight weeks after the primary infection.

You can prevent the spreading by washing your hands often with soap and water, especially after using the toilet. You can also ensure that they clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and soiled items, including toys.
Most importantly but often the MOST DIFFICULT task is making sure that children wash their hands after using the washroom, before eating and try to stress to them the importance of not touching their mouth, nose and eyes with unwashed hands.
