My mother has a problem of impacted stools. What can we do for it?

It will depend on how long the problem has existed. If it is a recent problem you can try using a mineral oil enema from the drug store followed by a bottle of Magnesium citrate. It is important to drink 5-6 glasses of water daily to keep the stools soft. If the problem has been going on for more than 3 weeks I would take her to the doctor to make sure she does not have a partial obstruction.
