Interventional Radiologist Questions Radiofrequency Ablation For Cancer

When is radiofrequency ablation used in cancer treatment?

My mother is undergoing chemotherapy for her brain tumor. The doctor has suggested radio frequency ablation for her. Would this treatment be effective?

Sorry, I have very limited knowledge in this particular area but there is something called a gamma knife that you should look into for that treatment. You will have to talk to a radiation oncologist group or neurosurgeon who was more familiar with these treatments. Hope that helps.
First of all, sorry to hear your mother is going through this tough time. Usually, we do ablation for tumors in liver, lung, bone, and most body parts. I have not heard of RFA for brain tumors. Usually it is treated with surgery or radiation treatments.
