Internist Questions Thrombosed Hemorrhoid

Is there a way to relieve a thrombosed hemorrhoid at home?

I have always been prone to hemorrhoids, but for the past week or so I have had a really painful thrombosed hemorrhoid. Is there a way for me to get rid of this at home, or do I have to go to the doctor?

Thrombosed hemorrhoid is difficult to relieve on your own unless it spontaneously ruptures and then you can massage the engorged blood vessel and expressed the clot but otherwise you should be under the care of a healthcare specialist
Yes
You can start with hot sitz baths several times a day, at least three times. Or use a hot compress on the area. Be careful. There are over the counter preparations that may help reduce the swelling and inflammation.
Soak bottom in Epsom salt baths. Preparation H cream over-the-counter should help, too. Old wives tales ask to use organic coconut oil or organic ghee to relieve inflammation (used topically).
Hope that helps!
