Family Practitioner Questions Antidepressants

Is it safe for a diabetic to be on antidepressants?

I am a diabetic and take a lot of pills everyday. Lately, I've been struggling with depression and was considering going on an antidepressant. Is this safe to take while on other medication for my diabetes?

PLEASE treat your depression. Untreated depression is a huge risk for deterioration of other health conditions. Depression meds and/or therapy can be very helpful.
Yes all things not considered. I do not know your full history. Have your doctor and pharmacy to do a drug interaction check before starting one.

Yes, antidepressants can be used with diabetic medications. You would need to discuss which one is right for you with your doctor so they can properly review the risks vs. benefits of each option.
